Is Jesus A Capitalist?

SO DENNIS PRAGER

THINKS JESUS WAS A SOCIALIST.

WAS JESUS A CAPITALIST?

"Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you."

So Dennis Prager at PragerU asked the question if Jesus was a socialist. I have a better one. Was Jesus a Capitalist? Remember when he changed that water into wine-you should have seen the bill later. As a matter of fact Joseph needed to get involved because those drunks didn't want to pay their bill. And I certainly remember all those times that Jesus had to pass the plate so that his financial needs for curing the poor and feeding the apostles would be met and we certainly remember him arguing with the government of feeding the poor and taking care of the sick. What do we see? Do we see Jesus carrying a purse of money or Judas?  Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.

And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

And another: So we have a man in the Bible telling Jesus-telling- him to tell his brother to share his wealth... Isn't that what Jesus taught to share? Do we ever see Jesus needing money? And here this man is in the presence of Jesus and demands that he rule in his favor. He doesn't asks, he demands. Think about how many better things he could have asked for. The request wasn't even made in the form of tricky question. Does Jesus deserve more respect from the angered brother?

Definitely. Jesus understands the situation automatically. Jesus teaches us to forgive numerous times. It is great to hear of this group's concern for the poor. Should they forgive those who allegedly stole their money and misused it based on their own argument and should they forgive themselves for being so lame at stopping it? And should the poor forgive those who stole from them. Who has the better case? Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.

And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Hmm. Jesus is impressed by the woman who gave from the little she had.  And each time Jesus cured someone it wasn't in the Bible his apostles went over and roughed those up who couldn't pay. And when Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes, it was all a big advertising gig for the new condo buildings that he was going to build at Herod's Palace.  So no Jesus was not a Socialist, he was beyond money and greed. And even today we have people twist what he meant into a Biblical Fractured Fairy Tale.

When Peter caught the fish-Jesus later told him to send Judas to ask how many pounds were caught so that they could get fair market value for them. And Peter didn't really leave his boat and a bountiful catch to follow Jesus.   And as far as a level playing field Republicans always talk about that and yet like Trump they are the first at the trough. Remember Trump received over 800 million from the City of New York in tax free subsidies and other giveaways. Damn Welfare King. And at the Death of Jesus a secret video was made to be sold later. And don't forget the copyright he put on the Bible and so on and so on. Shame.

"Freely you have received; freely give." Sounds closer to Socialism than Capitalism. Jesus wasn't either. He gave freely even unto death. Ouch. Yet some fail to get that message that in doing for others we do for Christ. I for one am one of those who still doesn't get it as well. "To whom much is given much is expected." Millionaires and Billionaires crying about rules over the environment and healthcare and education for children. How unfair it is for them that they have been cursed with such wealth...  "Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you."
